It’s Edwin Allen again but Jamaica College NOT Kingston College #Champs2021

Many time winners, Edwin Allen Comprehensive High, held off the dangerous St Jago to win the 2021 ISSA Girls [Athletic] Championships.  Edwin Allen held the lead coming into the final day and, with runners like the Clayton Twins, seemed poised to retain the trophy.  However, St Jago and Hydel gave all they had, valiant efforts, which came up short.  However, it was the first time 3 schools surpassed 300 points at Girls Champs.

On the Boys side, it was Jamaica College (328.5) over Kingston College (313).  Initially JC had 240.5 to KC’s 311 but, because of a lane violation, the winning JC 4x400M team were disqualified and lost 12 points.  Many time winners KC held a tiny lead coming into today’s (Saturday May 15, 2021) final day but, JC had representatives in more finals and they outperformed their KC counterparts. JC and KC also made it the first time 2 boys schools surpassed 300 points at Boys Champs.

Congratulations to the youngsters who came out and performed well even with the format changes and no spectators due to the Covid pandemic.

Also, big ups to ISSA, the coaches, officials, and others who made the event a successful one.
