West Indies men and women in respective World T20 finals

West Indies showed some dominance today by getting to the finals of both the Women’s and Men’s World T20 International competition.

Batting first, the West Indies women made 143-6 from their allotted 20 overs. New Zealand made it close but fell short at 137-8 from their 20 overs. Player of the match was Britney cooper who made 61 from 48 deliveries.

On the Men’s side, India amassed a seemingly unbeatable 192-2 from their 20 overs at a whopping 9.6 runs per over. West Indies, in reply lost the wickets of two of the 4 people they were depending on cheaply, Chris Gayle for 5 and Marlon Samuels for 8. However, Johnson Charles surprised with a nice 52 from 36 deliveries. Then it was up to man of the match Lendl Simmonds, 82 runs from 52 balls and Andre Russell, 43 from 20, to take them to 196-3 and victory.

– NZ v WI – WI won by 6 runs
– AUS v ENG – AUS won by 5 runs

Men
– ENG v NZ – ENG won by 7 wickets (with 17 balls remaining)
– IND v WI – WI won by 7 wickets (with 2 balls remaining)

The Final is scheduled for Sunday April 03, 2016
– Women: AUS v WI at Kolkata – 05:00 AM (EDT)
– Men: ENG v WI at Kolkata – 09:30 Am (EDT)
