St.G.C. spoils J.C. aim at schoolboy football history
November 27, 2014

“North Street Giant”, St. George’s College (St.G.C.), spoiled Jamaica College’s (J.C.) aim at senior schoolboy football history by defeating Jamaica College in the Walker Cup knockout finals today, 3-2.

J.C., having won the Manning Cup and inaugural Super Cup, only needed the Walker Cup and Olivier Shield to be the first school in Jamaica to win 4 senior football trophies/championships.  However, at the half, it was St.G.C. 3-0.  J.C. then pulled back one to make it 3-1 early in the 2nd half, but was unable to keep up with the light blues from North Street.

Congratulations to St George’s College for winning the Walker Cup 2014 and to Jamaica College for making the finals of all 4 championships.

Young promising Australian batsman dies at 25
November 27, 2014

Young, promising, Aussie batsman, Philip Hughes, has passed away at the age of 25.  After being struck by a bouncer on 63 runs earlier this week, and in critical condition, he was put in a doctor-induced coma, but never regained confidence.

Cricket Australia confirmed that Hughes died as a result of the injuries he sustained when struck by the bouncer on Tuesday,

Sad news for cricket, Cricket Australia, Australians, sport fans, but, on behalf of Yowlink, my condolences go out to the family and friends of Hughes. Nothing can make the loss easily swallowed.  Only God can wipe away all tears and He gives us time to heal wounds.

Reggae Boyz are 2014 CFU Caribbean Cup Champions
November 18, 2014

The 2014 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Caribbean Cup Finals featured 8-time champions Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Soca Warriors facing 5-time champions Jamaica Reggae Boyz.  A few hours leading up to the kickoff time, T&T was threatening to boycott the finals due to continued salary and arrears dispute with their federation.

However, the game went on, unlike the West Indies vs India recently, but I digress.

After a scoreless full time and extra time, the game went to penalty kicks where Jamaica won 4-3 to gain their 6th CFU Caribbean Cup championship.

Congratulations to the champion Reggae Boyz and to the finalist Soca Warriors for deciding to play the match.
