Shine On Jamaica, let no one hinder you.

I pray for all my Jamaican people affected directly or indirectly by the unrest that started in West Kingston, Jamaica.  I remember the innocent people who have been killed, injured, and detained in the crossfire…  I remember the families.  I remember the school students doing CXCs, taking the bar, who were affected.   I remember the ones who are trying to keep the peace.  I remember the poor and destitute.  I remember the homeless.  But for those of us with life, I remember there’s HOPE!

I will leave you with a great song by Cherine Anderson, titled “Shine On Jamaica.”

Shine on Jamaicans… Shine On.  Remember, don’t let anyone hinder you.

Out of Many One People.

Trinidad & Tobago elects Female PM

@Fredyow beat me to it, but it’s official, T&T has a new prime minister, a woman!  Big ups to Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the new prime minister.

Representing the United National Congress (UNC) party for whom she was elected leader on January 24th, 2010, Kamla Persad-Bissessar was elected the first female Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, winning  29 of 41 seats in the parliament last night (May 24, 2010).

Congrats to all the Trinbagonians, whether you supported her or Patrick Manning.  Congrats Ms. Persad-Bissessar.

New Look to Yowlink

Returning visitors and members will notice the new look to Yowlink.  We worked hard to get it to this state.  We feel it’s easier to use right now.

The Changes

The entire layout has changed for the better.  For intance:

  1. The login is now on the right hand side not at the top corner.
  2. The logged-in users’ avatar (if one’s associated with the login) is larger than before.
  3. The [f  Connect] button was replaced with a more meaningful button (Login with Facebook).
  4. Those who log into Yowlink with their facebook accounts get the option to post from Yowlink to Facebook when they write to their wall.
  5. When you visit your “user” area by clicking your name, you will notice that there is a number next to each item.  See the image below

West Indies Starts On Losing Note

Brian Lara with his cricket bat

Sorry, Lara is not coming back, and doesn’t appear to be playing county cricket in England either.

Anyway, after having a bad 20-20 tournament, South Africa tours the West Indies for a series of matches.  The West Indies, having done poorly in the 20-20 tournament as well and in the last 8-10 tours, needs a great series.  Side note: the West Indies have not fared well in the last 8-10 series, in fact.
